How can I understand the reasons behind the Battle of Badr as I think that Muslims intended to confiscate the goods and money of Quraysh’s caravan?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The prophet allowed fighting the caravan for a reason; it was not because it is a trading caravan and they wanted to confiscate the money; rather, the disbelievers led by Abu Sufyan confiscated the money of Muslims when they migrated; and thus, a large percentage of the money used in trading was originally for Muslims. The disbelievers of Quraysh took the money of Muslims unfairly and unjustly. Therefore, the prophet ordered the Muslims to fight the caravan to take some of their money back.
