What is the ruling on reciting the Verse: “And I bestowed upon you love from Me” as a daily litany to attain the love of Allah and facilitate one’s affairs

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. To proceed:

It is not permissible to single out the verse, “And I bestowed upon you love from Me” [Qur’an 20:39], as a daily litany based on the belief that regularly reciting it will result in attaining the love of Allah or the love of people, or in having one’s affairs facilitated. This is because singling out a Qur’anic verse for a particular virtue or effect requires sound evidence from Islamic law.

The verse occurs in the context of Allah’s favor upon Moses (peace be upon him), whereby He granted him acceptance and love in the hearts of those who saw him. However, there is no harm in reciting it as part of one’s regular Qur’anic recitation, contemplating its meaning, or supplicating Allah afterward for His love and for the facilitation of one’s affairs, provided that one does not believe that the verse possesses any particular virtue or special effect for these purposes.
