What is the authenticity of the following prophetic hadith: Anas ibn Malik reported that Allah's Apostle (PBUH) said: “The Hell would continue to say: (Is there anything more), until Allah, the Exalted and High, would place His Foot therein.”
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The above mentioned hadith “The Hell would continue to say:
(Is there anything more), until Allah, the Exalted and High, would place His Foot therein.”
is related by Bukhari and there are other various narrations related by Bukhari and Muslim.
The meaning of Allah’s Foot is not agreed upon. Some scholars (Salaf Scholars) approved that Allah has a Foot, but they assured that this Foot would never be similar to any of His creatures’ feet. Allah says: “There is nothing like Him.” (Ash-Shura: 11).
However, other scholars see that the Foot in the hadith is figurative and is only used metaphorically.
Both answers are probable; however, the Exaltation of Allah, regardless of the real meaning of Foot, is demanding and agreed upon.
