Can I fast these blessed days observing the intention of asking Allah to guide me to the correct choice taking into consideration that I prayed al-Istikharah prayer (guidance prayer), but I need to be more contented?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
Allah has made fasting distinct by allocating a high status to it. Allah says in ah-Hadith al-Qudsi (Hadith Qudsi is what the prophet says telling that it is revealed from Allah; in other words, the meaning of it is revealed to the prophet and the prophet put it in his own words.) “Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except the fasting which is (exclusively) for Me and I will reward him for it.” Thus, since fasting has this specialty, it must be dedicated only to Allah. However, you can pray and ask Allah for whatever you want as whoever is fasting, their prayers are answered. There is the verse that comes in the midst of As-Saum verses which is: “And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them) I am indeed near (to them by my Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor).” Al-Baqarah: 186
In addition, the messenger of Allah says that there are three whose supplication is not rejected and considers the supplication of a fasting Muslim. To conclude, you can fast and dedicate fasting only to Allah, then you can pray and ask Allah whatever you want.
