Is prosperity and the lack of tribulation considered a curse from Allah? Is it true that if Allah loves a slave, He will afflict him?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
Tribulation or affliction is the Way of Allah; it could be by giving a person what is good or what is bad. Allah says: “and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good.” (Al-Anbiya’: 35).
Other verses or hadiths illustrate this meaning. Therefore, as you live peacefully and with prosperity, remember it could be a way of examining you to see whether you thank Allah for the blessings that He has offered you or not. Living so could also mean a way of rewarding you if you are on the right path and pious. The lack of tribulation or affliction is not considered an evidence to tell that Allah does not like you. Nevertheless, keep considering your deeds regarding whether they re good or evil. So try not to commit sins or be negligent.
