What is the ruling if one saves money to get married, but he couldn’t, and he can go on Hajj using the saved money?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
Referring to your question, I would like to note that performing Hajj is a must as it is a pillar of the five pillars of Islam. It must be performed once a Muslim is able. This is the opinion of some scholars. Others say, a Muslim can perform Hajj at their suitable times.
When can a Muslim perform the Hajj before getting married?
This question has two answers:
First, if the man’s lust is not high; in other words, he can wait as he is patient, and he has enough money at the time of Hajj, he can go on Hajj.
Second, if he cannot wait to get married, and his lust is too high, and he fears committing adultery if he does not marry, then he must get married as soon as possible. This is agreed upon by all scholars.
However, parents should not delay performing Hajj claiming that they want to help their children get married.
