Is it permissible for a woman to post or publish a record of her voice while she is reciting some verses of the Holy Qur’an on social network?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
Originally, the woman’s voice is not considered ‘Awrah as long as she speaks in a considerate modest manner regardless of the listener as Allah says: “Speak in honorable manner.” Al-Ahzab: 32. It is permissible for a woman to speak in front of strangers as she needs so while practicing her daily life activities (work, purchase, selling, etc.). however, speaking to strangers is restricted by some restrictions such as being modest, not speaking too softly, and not intending to attract men as a kind of temptation. Allah says: “then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honorable manner.” Al-Ahzab: 32
This is to avoid illegal desires by other strange men. Thus, if a woman recites the Holy Qur’anic verses applying the rules of Tajweed, then she needs to change her voice tone, then publishing the record on social network is not be allowed. However, if she only reads some verses without applying the rules of Tajweed or changing her voice tone, then it is permissible.
