I work in an office which provides services to students. In this office there are professors and specialist who have not found any other work to earn a living except for working in this office. We help students to do their assignments such as suggesting titles to their papers, translating texts, summarizing articles, writing research papers, etc. Is my work considered haram?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The most important issue here is that you should not write a complete research paper and then sell it to a student to submit it to their professors. This is cheating and thus, it is haram. Typing, doing format to papers, translating texts, editing, helping them get acceptance letters in some universities, and suggesting titles to their research are considered legal and halal. In other words, you can do all of the above-mentioned examples and get paid. However, preparing and writing a whole research is considered plagiarism. Such a deed is illegal.
