I am a Syrian man. In the past, I did many sins and guilts. I even used to insult Allah, His Messenger and Islam (I seek Allah’s Refuge). Cursing and insulting have become common in Syria. In fact, I regretted doing all that, and I repented for my sins. Nevertheless, I am still worried and despaired. For the last four months, I have been asking myself whether Allah would forgive me and accept my repentance or not. Please, tell me what to do; may Allah reward you.
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
There is no doubt that insulting Allah, His Messenger or Islam is one of the major sins; moreover, it could be a reason to exclude you (Allah forbids) from religion once you insist on doing that. But, as long as you regretted and repented, you should keep asking Allah to forgive and pardon you and to cleanse your sins and faults. Do not despair as this is one of the Satan's ways to make you commit other sins. You should not feel upset as long as Allah says: “Say: O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: verily, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” Az-Zumar: 53
Allah also says: “Verily Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills.” An-Nisa’ 48
I recommend that you strongly direct yourself to the right path, ask Allah for His forgiveness, so He will, Insha’Allah, accept you.
