If one wants to wipe over socks, should the socks be worn immediately after performing ablution (Wudu’)?

Answer

Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.

Referring to your question, a condition of making wiping over socks valid is wearing them while your ablution (Wudu’) is valid; it is not necessary to wear them immediately after performing ablution. The Palestinian Verdict Council decided the following regarding the conditions and rulings of wiping over socks:

Initially, Islamic Shari’a is known as the Shari’a of ease. Allah says: “Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you.” Al-Baqarah: 185. He also says: “So keep your duty to Allah and fear Him as much as you can;” At-Taghabun: 16

The prophet also said: “and do what I command you to he best of your ability and capacity.” Related by Bukhari.

There is a jurisprudence rule; Hardship brings ease.

Therefore, and after all such evidence, we can say that Islamic Shari’a permits Muslims and allows them to wipe over the Kuff (socks). Thus, there are some restriction regarding this:

Regarding the period during which one can still wipe over socks:

Some scholars say that it starts once one wears the socks; others say it starts once the ablution becomes invalid; however, the third group says the period starts once the first wiping takes place; the last opinion is the opinion that we overweigh.

The one who is allowed to wipe over socks should be committed to the duration during which they can wipe; if they are residents, they can wipe for a day and a night (24 hours); if they are travelling, they can wipe for three days and three nights (72 hours). After this allocated period, they cannot wipe. However, if the allocated period is over while the Muslim is still pure, then the Wudu’ is considered valid. In other words, the Wudu’ does not become invalid because of time, but it becomes invalid because of other conditions.

Finally, scholars see that if one takes off their socks or khuf after wiping over them and during the allowed period does not invalidate the Wudu’
