How much is the increased blood-money and the reduced blood-money in Palestine?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The Palestinian Legal Verdict Council stated the amount of the increased blood-money and the reduced blood-money. They decided on 28/11/2013 the following: It is one hundred camels for the increased blood-money and JD 84,000 for the reduced blood-money.
The council received a question: is it allowed for any of the two parties: the family of the victim or the family of the murderer, to force the other party to substitute the hundred camels with anything else?
The council decided that the Diya (blood-money) must be paid as prescribed in the prophetic hadith which gives exact details. Having consulted many neighboring Muslim countries to find a substitute for camels, they decided that it should be JD100,000 instead of the hundred camels for the increased blood-money, and it should be JD 84,000 for the reduced one. It should be taken into that these values are changeable. In other words, they are subjected to increase or decrease depending on the camels’ prices.
