I am an unmarried girl. I fell in love with a guy with whom I have a relationship. We spent sometimes with each other exchanging kisses and hugs, but we had never committed adultery. I regretted and repented, then I redid this again and again. What shall I do?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
Undoubtedly, what you have been doing is shameful. It leads to getting Allah’s wrath. Moreover, doing the same deed over and over shows how weak you are; besides, you do what makes your family shameful. Do they deserve this? Why do you keep a haram relationship with a guy who just wants to spend some time; then he will end that relationship without looking back at you.
Regarding the acceptance of your repentance, I would like to say that Allah accepts the sincere repentance that a person offers provided that they have the determination of not committing the same sins again. Allah says: “Say: O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: verily, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” Az-Zumar: 53
This shows the mercy of Allah, and how He accepts His slaves’ repentance as long as they quit doing the haram.
Moreover, I advise you to quit immediately and regret. Do not postpone repentance.
