Is it allowed to keep saying between the two units of prostrations: O Allah! Forgive me and forgive my parents? Can I make other supplications after Qunut supplication which is said in Isha’ Prayer?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to say between the two units of prostration: “My Lord! Forgive me; my Lord! Forgive me.” Sunan Ibn Majah and An-Nasa’i
It is also narrated that he used to say: “O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, give me good health (heal me), guide me, and provide for me.” Sunan Abu Dawood
In other narrations, as what is narrated by Tirmidhi, he said “support me” instead of saying “heal me”.
All these narrations show that it is acceptable to make supplications between the two units of prostration. If one has not memorized them, and thus, cannot say them, they can make other supplications asking Allah to give them what is good in this life and in the Afterlife. However, it is more perfect to copy the prophet.
Referring to the other part of your question, surely, you can make other supplications after Qunut. It is even more desired to do that. A Muslim can keep asking Allah to give them what is good at any time especially at night after praying the Witr.
