What are the restrictions of performing two rituals with one intention? In other words, what if one fasts six days of Shawwal considering them as compensation and the optional worship, or slaughter an animal considering it a sacrifice and a birth sacrifice, or praying the two rak’as (units of prayer) of al-Fajr prayer considering them the forenoon prayer?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The only restriction is that whether the required duty is achieved once the action is performed or not. For example, if one wants to pray the mosque greeting prayer and wants to pray al-Fajr prayer, they can pray al-Fajr and the former can be achieved by performing the latter because what is required is to pray in such a place. In this case, one intention can be involved in the other; thus, it is accepted. However, the examples you mentioned in your questions cannot be accepted as the general rule is to do every ritual separately.
