What is the ruling if a Muslim participates in the funeral of a Christian?

There is no clear evidence which states that a Muslim should not participate in the funeral of a Christian especially if the dead was a relative or a friend of the Muslim; on the contrary, it was narrated that the prophet’s companions participated in the funeral of a Christian woman called Um Al-Harith Ibn Rabi’a. participating may lead to positive views in regarding Islam. However, if such participation includes some rituals which may be denied in Islam, then participation is not allowed.
