What is the ruling on speaking up and saying the supplications loudly while bowing and prostrating?
Answer
Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.
The Muslim can speak up to let himself listen to his recital of the Holy Qur’an, dhikr, saying the testimony and supplication as long as he prays alone or as a follower. Nevertheless, he cannot speak loudly if this could disturb other people who pray or worship in the mosque. The Sunnah is to say these supplications secretly (in a low voice), but to let oneself hear. Aisha narrated that she heard the prophet saying while prostrating: “O Allah, I seek protection in Your pleasure from Your anger, and I seek protection in Your forgiveness from Your punishment.” Related by Muslim.
