What is the Islamic ruling on monthly rotating savings associations in which participants contribute a fixed amount and take turns receiving the pooled sum?

Answer

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. To proceed:

There is nothing wrong with these savings associations, provided they are based on mutual consent, the contribution amount is known and equal for all participants, and each participant receives an amount equivalent to the total contributions made by the group, without any stipulated increase or prohibited benefit, fraud, or delay that causes harm. Such arrangements are a permissible form of mutual cooperation and meeting one another’s needs.

However, if the arrangement involves an additional amount for any participant in exchange for receiving the money earlier or later, stipulates an additional benefit, or results in injustice or disputes, it is impermissible.

And Allah, the Exalted, knows best.
