What is the Islamic ruling on using medical alcohol in the ear for treatment?
Answer
There is no religious objection to using medical alcohol in the ear for treatment and disinfection when needed, particularly when recommended by a qualified physician. This is because it constitutes a permissible external medicinal use, rather than drinking alcoholic beverages or using them for pleasure or intoxication.
Any amount that may reach the throat or stomach unintentionally and without deliberate action does not affect the ruling, nor does it incur any sin. This is because actions are judged by their intentions, and incidental substances associated with medical treatment are excused.
Accordingly, using medical alcohol in the prescribed manner for medical purposes is permissible, and there is no religious objection to doing so.
And Allah Almighty knows best.
