Question

Reference number: 431671 | Pilgrimage: Hajj and Umrah | June 10, 2018

What about getting a mediator, who will afford me a chance to perform the Hajj?

Answer

Praise Be to Allah and Peace Be Upon His Messenger.

The general Mufti decided the following:

Performing the Hajj is obligatory upon those who are able. Allah says: “And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka’bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah who can afford the expenses.” Al-Imran: 97

In respect to getting a mediator to facilitate getting a chance to perform Hajj, it is allowed and there is nothing wrong in asking people to help under some conditions. You should avoid doing any illegal deed such as paying a bribery or taking others’ rights. People are equal and should be treated equally; there should be no discrimination between blacks and whites, poor and rich in front of Allah, and each should perform their duties and get equal opportunities.
